Grand Ledge

Here's a poem, it's not finished quite- or very rough, about the little town where I live:

Grand Ledge
In the Michigan shaped hand,
Grand Ledge lays two creases left of Lansing,
Approximately eleven minutes per crease.
You'll find a pleasant little town,
American flag colors found on the houses,
hanging from their porches and painted in their hearts.
If you can't find the flags- or even the sky,
blame the crooked branches holding plethora of leaves,
songs of birds, and overfed squirrels.
Walking here is known as swimming,
and you drink the air, and splash through flash flood streams.
The colors here aren't hard to learn.
Learn from the birds the primary colors-
1, 2, 3, red, yellow, and blue.
You won't have to worry for lack of conversation,
and as it gets late the Michigan bird will chase people indoors.
This bird feeds on the people,
commonly known as the Grand Ledge dragon,
In other cultures maybe as the mosquito.
And at the end of the day, running from dragons-
like a runway for aircrafts at night:
the lightning bugs will guide us home.

Ah, I love Michigan. (: Love you all! Keep faith! Hope! Seek after those things that are lovely and of good report. (:
With love, Sister Duncan
